Agent
of the State
As
an agent of the state (government) you are held to ethical standards which may shock you.
You, for example, are required to forfeit your right to provide biblical counseling or
instruction. You cannot counsel against a person's "right" to be homosexual, to
have an abortion, etc.
In
fact, as a state licensed counselor, you cannot even offer to pray for your counselee
unless they initiate (request) prayer. You certainly cannot share your faith in the saving
grace of Jesus or help your counselee understand God's plan for their life. If you do,
your license will be revoked.
State
license is for persons who want to enter the "business" of counseling. It was
never intended for those who want to enter the "ministry" of counseling.
Setting
and maintaining standards for people who are called by God into the ministry of counseling
is the responsibility of the "Church." Qualifications for such sacred
credentials must never be in the hands of the State (government).
